Wooobe Dovetail Joint Tensile Test

Testing the Strength and Durability of Wooobe Dovetail Joint Wooden Building Blocks

At Wooobe, we are committed to ensuring that our toys are not only creative and fun but also durable and safe. To showcase the robustness of our dovetail joint building blocks, we conducted an extensive tensile strength test on our beechwood-based blocks. Below, we’ll delve into the details of our preparation, testing environment, methods, and results, along with an introduction to the physical properties of beechwood.

Preparation and Environment

We performed the tensile strength test in a controlled environment, ensuring that temperature and humidity levels were optimal for both the testing equipment and the wood's performance. The test was conducted in a sealed room with stable conditions, ensuring that the results would be as accurate and reliable as possible.

Testing Method

For this test, we used a tensile testing machine along with a strong natural fiber rope to simulate real-world stress on the dovetail joint connection. Each block used in the test was 1 cm on each edge and made from beechwood—renowned for its strong, dense qualities. We drilled holes through two individual blocks and threaded the rope through them, securing the ends to the testing machine. We then slowly turned the machine’s knob to tighten the rope, pulling the two blocks apart.

Test Process

As the rope tightened, the tension increased steadily. The force displayed on the testing machine began at 0 kg and gradually climbed as we continued to tighten the rope. The test ended when the rope reached a peak tensile strength of 22.75 kg before it finally snapped. Remarkably, despite the break in the rope, the two wooden blocks remained securely attached, illustrating the impressive strength of the dovetail joint.

Test Results

The test results were conclusive—our Wooobe dovetail joint blocks are incredibly durable. Withstood a tensile strength of over 22 kg without separating, proving the robustness of our design and the quality of our beechwood material. We did not continue testing after the rope broke, as the result was already far beyond what is typically expected from a 1 cm block. This proved our blocks are not only safe for children but built to last.

Why Beechwood?

Beechwood was chosen for our Wooobe blocks due to its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio. It is a hardwood known for its density, durability, and resistance to wear. These physical properties make it ideal for building toys that require both precision and stability. Beechwood also has a fine texture that allows for smooth finishes, providing a high-quality aesthetic and tactile experience in our toys.

Conclusion

The tensile test results confirm that Wooobe dovetail joint wooden blocks offer superior durability and strength. The test demonstrated that our beechwood blocks can withstand significant force while remaining securely joined. As a company, we are proud to deliver products that meet the highest standards of quality and safety for both children and adults.
